Rereading Arséne Lupin in Chinese, because apparently there's no full English collection (and most certainly not in eBook format).

I don't understand with the popularity of the new French Netflix series Lupin, how the publishers don't cash in on it.

His adventures were published in Taiwan via Japanese translations, which even included some rewrites and some 'extra curricular' adventures dreamt up by the Japanese translator (lol).

In the 80s having a collection of Arséne Lupin was a cool thing for kids. Like having a collection of special edition Harry Potter AND Cirque du Freak AND Peter Jackson (and I've officially gotten to the age when I dunno what's cool for kids anymore. The Guardian series? The Warrior Cat series? How to Train Your Dragon series?).

Anyway he's always been more popular than Sherlock Holmes amongst my friends. Who wouldn't love a gentleman thief with a million identities?

As I grew I came to respect and appreciate Sherlock more, but Arséne Lupin is still, in my mind at least, slightly better.
