The Loneliest Girl in the Universe
by Wren James
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe is a book about loneliness, and that there is no one you can trust but yourself. The idea of setting the plot in space was very good, there is nowhere else to be alone than there, and somehow as a person who suffers from social isolation, I kind of relate to that.
You transpose this in real life and Romy is just a normal girl who is dealing with her anxiety, and talking with strangers online. And you never know with who you're dealing with, you give your trust so easily and you end disappointed because some people take advantage of you for their interests. That's what I felt about J. I don't know if that's how the author pictured that, but that's my feeling about this story.
Plot speaking: I wish the twist in the end was much better. This reminded me those twists you can see on these Lifetime movies you can watch the afternoon with a cup of coffee, just to cheer you up for a while.
(spoilers: I somehow wished the UPR was real, and the plot leads to this direction, or maybe it's me who's just a socio-political book addict, but on this side I'm a bit disappointed)
3,5/5 : it's a good book with a bit of wasted potential.
