Although a bit slow to start, and undoubtedly long, moonflower murders took me by a pleasant surprise!
⚠️ Spolers ahead!! ⚠️
Moonflower murders are the long awaited second book about Susan Ryeland, Atticus Pünd and Alan Conway. Although, you definitely can read this one without having read the first.
I applaud creativity, and Horowitz’s book in the book was such a fun consept! I found myself increasingly curious about Atticus Pünd Takes the Case during the first 200 pages. Beeing then greeted by it with a full cover and details was such a joyful experience. I really liked that the book in the book was the full story and not just a snippet. Additionally, I found it very fun to read Susans thoughts about the book from an editorial perspective. Bravo!
However, the character gallery ended up being a bit to complex for me. Keeping track of the characters in both books had a tendency of becoming slightly confusing at times. Additionally, I have not completely made up my mind about Susans personal arc and the resolution between her and Andreas. Though, I must confess it was cute and my heart couldn’t help but melting when he showed up just in time to save her life.
All in all a very fun read, and lots of bonus points for the creative format!
The ending (both endings), managed to surprise me, which definitely adds to the experience!
