Oh yay. Another virgin trope.

AND the title was a terrible choice.  This isn’t a spoiler because you learn it in the first few pages - they aren’t best friends, they start out with Winnie disliking Byron. 

This book is really frustrating. Once they sort of start the relationship, Byron demands repeatedly that Win push him for more, to be better, etc. except when she did, he left the state for a month. She “pushes him” by asking that he stop criticizing her word choices and her job, then he refuses to stick to that promise. He won’t take her on a date, but he repeatedly asks her if she loves him. She’s very understanding of his struggles and limitations, but he has zero sympathy for hers. And somehow the third act breakup is exclusively her fault because
she kept him at a bit of a distance, even though they literally just got together. Okay, she could have let him in and trusted him more, but hadn’t they agreed to take things slow? And she thinks she’s a weasel for not sharing private conversations and intimate details with her friend. And asking a friend to stick their neck out for you professionally is not required, especially if the job isn’t necessary. There just too much self flagellation going on on her side.
I’m getting frustrated just writing this review.  

If this is your first Penny Reid book and you didn’t enjoy it, please don’t let it deter you from the author. I loved most of the other books I’ve read by her.
