Hero at the Fall
by Alwyn Hamilton
"But even if the desert forgot a thousand and one of our stories, it was enough that they would tell of us at all. That long after our deaths, men and women sitting around a fire would hear that once, long ago, before we were all just stories, we lived."
Wow. This book was like speeding towards a wall you know is going to wreck you and being helpless to stop. It had all of the fantastic elements of the first two books - fast plot, intriguing world building, incredible friendships, heart breaking swoon and captivating prose - with a desperation and weight that came from being the finale of the series.
It wasn't always easy, and I was crying for at least the last 25% of the book, but everything wrapped up in a way, that while painful as a book about a rebellion has to be, ultimately was completely satisfying.
This series is one of my all-time favorites and I highly recommend it to anyone.
