hamsammich 's review for:
Witchy
by Ariel Slamet Ries
This book was a tad confusing in places. There wasn't a whole lot of world-building, which made it difficult to understand certain elements of the book (like why hair was a big deal. I get that the longer your hair is the more powerful you are, but how does that even work). The main character is old enough for conscription, but acts like a child (I get why in a way, but she puts off the attitude of a ten-year-old throughout the whole book.)
The book as a whole was okay. The story jumped around a lot and it was difficult to understand at times. A little more text could have helped. It's also possible that we'll learn more in the next book.
The art though was stunning. I loved how bright the colors are.
Overall, it was an okay book. Not very long and a very fast read.
