I hated reading most of this book because it was so dark and carried so much dread. But at the end, I was so so glad to have read it. It was incredibly eerie to read a book written when I was 2 years old and set in 2025 when so many of Octavia’s predictions have come true… the resurgence of measles in particular, California wildfires, and the election of a governor president whose slogan is a version of Make America Great Again.
My favorite part of the book was the illustration of mutual aid, the power of community, and the importance of survival skills. All areas I intend to continue advancing in my own life.
Definitely worth reading, so glad my book club chose this one!
