Reminders of Him
by Colleen Hoover
Oh my lord
This is the third Colleen Hoover book I've read in the last few months and it is by FAR my favorite. I was so invested in the story because it's so realistic.
It's easy to look on a horrible situation like Kenna and Scotty's and pass judgment when we aren't experiencing something so horrifying but the truth of the matter is, when we're in a traumatic situation we do stupid things. Especially when you're in shock and can't think or even really feel alive.
I wanted nothing more than for everything to end up well for all the characters involved because I was able to empathize with all of them. Scotty's parents hatred for Kenna, Ledger's hatred and then love for Kenna, and Kenna's desire to just meet her child.
A lot of people complain that it's stupid for Kenna to expect forgiveness but I think they weren't paying attention. Kenna knew she'd never be forgiven, that's not what she wanted or needed to continue on. All she wanted was to meet her child, and honestly that's all anyone could ask for in her situation.
For a 300 some odd page book it's a decently quick read, the audiobook is about 8 and a half hours and it was a well spent 8.5 hours listening to it. Though I'll be honest and say once I hit chapter 38 I had to read it myself because the audiobook just wasn't quick enough and I needed to see the ending right then.
Happy readings folks
