honestly this probably would’ve been four stars had the beginning not been so drawn out and boring.
the last quarter of the book was really good, and so much was happening that there were almost no moments where i was like “um wtf i’m cringing so hard”.
i cant say the same for the first three quarters. so many cringe moments and so much bad dialogue. why are we bringing 2020s slang into a fantasy book??
the criticism i have heard a lot with this book was that it felt rushed, like she didn’t take her time writing it. i actually disagree with this because every possible plot hole was explained away, and the book was SO long. like arguably way longer than it needed to be.
i really enjoyed the last parts of the book, so that made this a better book for me overall than it would’ve been. if the whole book has been like the beginning, this probably would’ve been a two star read for me.
