Four Last First Dates by Kate O'Keeffe

3.0

This book had promise as a cute, Hallmark-eque idea, but it fell flat for me. The characters were likable enough, the story-line cheesy but cute, and the setting realistic enough to appease me. The problem was the lack of subtlety that Bailey possessed.
She liked Ryan A LOT at the beginning. Constantly kept mentioning it. Then, out of nowhere, she brings up her beloved fiancé who passed away. Yet, she still has a major crush on Ryan and doesn't deny it. This makes the rest of the book's struggle pointless. I felt that the author was using a great idea (still hurting over a loved one's passing) rather poorly, and it didn't accurately reflect Bailey's feelings at the beginning of the book. If the beginning had changed, then the story would have made sense. As it was, I was confused.
Also, I was annoyed that Bailey seemed too "perfect." Perfect figure, pretty looks, smart, ambitious, blah blah blah. There are totally people out there who are all that and more, but when it's from Bailey's POV, I'd like to see some flaws.
Anyway, it was cute. But not perfect, but any stretch.
