Daughter of the Pirate King
by Tricia Levenseller
5/5 Stars!
Wow, I'm very surprised at this book. I actually first heard about this book in a YouTube video about disappointing books, I thought I would give the book a try for myself as the thought of a badass female pirate who is the daughter of the pirate king and also the offspring of something very exciting (don't want to spoil even though its in the title of the sequel) I couldn't really pass it up to at least give it the benefit of the doubt.
I do see the flaws in this novel though. The plot is a little basic and I have to admit the description and adventure is a little bit lacking for my taste. But I do think it is a fun, romantic, strong female lead book with some funny one-liners and just a fast-paced fun ride overall.
I was generally engrossed and really liked the characters ( even though I would like some of them to be more fleshed out in the sequel because some characters came and went and the names I couldn't remember). I do think with this novel it needs to be seen for what it is. A light adventure comical lighthearted pirate romance. It was based around the romance between Riden and Alosa more than the world and the lore I think that was the problem it needs more description more information and fleshed out supporting characters I don't want any throwaway characters I want to know everything!
Let's be honest. So I would like a little bit more background in the sequel. More to do with the lore of whatever world they live in. What year it is or if it is a fictional world that doesn't go by our time? More adventure, more description and I definitely think it would be an improvement to a really fun novel.
I will definitely be buying and reading the sequel because I am very interested to see what happens next!
