Raise the Titanic! by Clive Cussler
5.0
The United States and Soviet Russia both want the same thing: Byzantium, and there is only one place they can get it, by raising the R.M.S Titanic. This story follows a group of government men from both Soviet Russia and the United States, the former led by Prevlov and the latter by Gene Seagram and the renowned Dirk Pitt, as they struggle with each other over who really gets the Byzantium and the Titanic. The National Underwater and Marine Agency and the top-secret Meta Section are the founders of the Sicilian Project, for which the Byzantium is necessary. The Byzantium will be used to create a sort of dome over America, and would be impenetrable by any kind of missile. Seagram, Pitt, and their crew deep-sea dive, discovering a cornet belonging to one of the band members of the Titanic, which then lead them to the actual ship itself. From there on out, they have to figure out a way to raise the Titanic, stop the Russians, and free their teammates from certain death, all during the middle of fearsome Hurricane Amanda.
I really loved this book. It was an amazing combination of action and science- fiction, with just a little bit of romance. It was suspenseful as well, and I couldn’t put it down, not even to sleep. If you are looking for a new book or series to read, I highly recommend the Adventures of Dirk Pitt by Clive Cussler. Cussler’s writing style is phenomenal, I can vividly see the scenes in my head as I read.
I would recommend this book more to the boys than girls, because many of the main characters are men. However, girls definitely could enjoy Raise the Titanic! because it’s a great adventure. I would also recommend this book to anyone who loves action, sci-fi, and a little bit of mystery, just enough to make you think.
