“What is colder? Betraying someone you love out of necessity, or never loving them at all?”

such a refreshing idea!! i mean one god believing restoring the earth little by little is the best idea while it separates families and either kills you or alters you? that there are Godkillers? and people fighting the Godkillers because obviously, no matter how ‘restored’ the earth might be, poverty and power are two things still present.

a bit hard to get into at first, but the world-building was extraordinary. some words I had to get used to, but what would be a fantasy book without the vocabulary?

I Loved!! the characters’ growth!! and the plot twists!! also the deep adult conversations the fmc and mmc had!! the topics talked about too: about being forced to move from one place to another, being refugees, the idea of belonging to a place or not. but also about loss, betrayal, giving up and finding strength again. purpose.

unsure what the ending is though.. as in what it revealed and what we were meant to guess/understand. but so SO happy for book 2 being announced and coming up soon!

“How strange, to have someone forgive me when I could never forgive myself.”
