Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel by Val Emmich

3.0

Not my kind of book, just one plot line where you’re just waiting for the shoe to drop. The whole time wondering how the character is going to clean up their mess and how it’s gonna turn out all right in the end. I hate when endings don’t come all wrapped up and happy with a bow, but I actually can appreciate that the authors ended the book the way they did, a little soft, but the character didn’t walk away free of consequences either. I can appreciate the theme of the book (suicide/not fitting in) and its importance to many people as well as addressing the mental health issues that are statistically significant in the LGBTQ community.
