Fruits Basket, Vol. 16 by Natsuki Takaya

5.0

I'm not crying, you're crying. I forgot how sad Kyoko's past was until reading this volume. It was interesting to learn that Kyo was privvy to such delicate information and learned all there was about Kyoko and how she had met Katsuya, Tohru's dad. I was straight up bawling because I could feel her pain and suffering when she thought she was alone in the world after Katsuya died and it made me wonder if I'll be like that if my husband were to leave me suddenly? I was also intrigued with how Kyoko reacted when she found out she was pregnant and I think there are a lot of women who have the same question when presented with the knowledge of being a new parent, but the way that Katsuya answered her made me realize that so long as you have a loving partner like him, then you'll be able to set aside those fears and uncertainties.
