I don't read a lot of historical fiction but this... woo boy! This book deals with queerness in the 1950s during the Red Scare. The parallels to some of the stuff going on today was not lost on me. Chapter 40 - 41 made me sob. I appreciated the ending. I really appreciated the author's notes - it was very clear the Lo did her research for this book, which I always really appreciate for historic fiction.
