Meet Me at the Lighthouse by Mary Jayne Baker

3.0

Meet Me at the Lighthouse is a sweet romance about fulfilling your dreams, falling in love, a offering unconditional support to your partner. I loved the beginning of the book; the flirtatious banter and chemistry between the characters is well written and I got a sense of what it was like to live seaside in their small town. That being said, the last third of the book dragged for me and I felt like the momentous occasion at the end of the book was bogged down through slow pacing and by a secondary character whose over-the-top, washed-up, alcoholic thesbian affect would have been better left out entirely. It made me skim the last couple chapters of the book, when I should have been celebrating with the characters. I understand that this is a rework of a previously published novel, but I think it could have done a bit more with editing down the unnecessary.
