We Could Be Beautiful by Swan Huntley

First, I wouldn't classify this book as a thriller by any means. It's more of a mystery about what happens when a woman meets her dream guy and we realize that he may not be all that he seems. At the heart of the story, there is a mystery/twist but it isn't that difficult to figure out as you read the book.
The narrator, a wealthy, selfish woman named Catherine West is extremely unlikeable. But the author does a great job of letting you inside of her head so she doesn't seem like a caricature. Catherine West and all of her baggage feels real. Her new love William, on the other hand, comes off like a caricature. But I think that's intentional; as a reader you understand Catherine's curiosity with him because he doesn't seem real. However, anytime William spoke, I was anxious to get past his dialogue.

SPOILERS: I was a little disappointed by the ending. Catherine ending up with Dan, her employee, seemed so improbable. It felt rushed, like the author was trying to tie the story up in a neat little bow, but not every story needs that. I didn't think Catherine deserved Dan or her happy ending and it would have been a lot more interesting if she was left to figure things out on her own.
