A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers

5.0

The way I metaphorically devoured this book
The writing in this novel is some of the most beautiful and poetic I’ve ever laid eyes upon. Even when describing the awful and gory scenes, summers makes every sentence glow with her word choice. Even if I didn’t already love the story and Dorothy, I would have given this book 5 stars for the writing style alone.
As for Dorothy, she is absolutely everything I’ve ever wanted in a main character. She is smart, she is driven, she is confident, and most importantly, she’s absolutely batshit crazy. Her relationship with food and men and how they relate to each other as well as her female friendship with Emma was some of the most intricate relationships I’ve ever read about and I loved every minute of it.
I haven’t wanted to re-read a book in so long but I will absolutely be re-reading and annotating this at some point because how could I not?
