kraftybooks 's review for:
The Count of Monte Cristo
by Alexandre Dumas
Well I finally finished this one! I couldn't believe how many side stories and deep backgrounds this book involved. There were parts I found boring and hard to get through, but generally was wishing I could read/listen faster so I could find out what was going to happen and how all these characters interconnected.
With the number of details included for so many of the chararacters, I have to say that I was left with lots of questions for a couple things. Did he just get tired of writing about Noirtier and Valentine? The story of her miracle was one I wanted all the details of but Dumas left me hanging!
What about Albert? Does he find happiness? Does Benedetto discover his mother? Do the Danglars find each other again to live out their days in commiseration of their undignified downfall? Oh the agony of such a long book with so many untied off threads.
