I honestly wanted to try to give this book more stars. It has everything I should want- a multicultural romance, strong African female lead, familial ties, sexy ness. Everything in the story is rushed, though. There isn’t time to get to know any characters, love them, or become invested in their story. The romance is caught somewhere between soap opera and a tween romance novel. The complexity of a relationship that potentially dishonors family and culture should be raw and treated with care in the story. Instead of being drawn out and examined, it’s rushed by you in a series of disjointed sentences. Overall this book was not for me.
