I love this kind of stories; when the protagonist steps through the mirror (or book!) and finds themselves in a new world. How they adapt from a modern, familiar setting into a dangerous landscape. Pent is lucky enough to find a merry bunch of lovely friends who are willing to accept him and his many oddities.
This is a lighthearted story, with some heartwrenching moments. A villain who has lost all trace of humanity, and unlikely heroes who are born out of despair.
Pent is forced to outgrow his fears since it's no longer only his life at stake.
I would have enjoyed seeing him using more of his "modern" knowledge to help the villagers of Somersville, but then again, probably is better to keep a low profile and accept what life gives you.
Or not! Go read and find out!
