The setting, found family, and side characters carried this book for me. Without them I probably would’ve Dnfed it and lost interest immediately. The storyline focused so heavily on the mystery and I just simply did not care. There was no reason for me to care and I didn’t think it was a well executed plot throughout the story. The bits of romance that were there I really loved and I actually really liked the couple there just wasn’t enough of them. I liked Lyla’s character but she didn’t seem completely like the character she was throughout the other books. Vance was too intertwined with the mystery for me to really enjoy his character so I again just didn’t really care. So ultimately it was fine but definitely the weakest and my least favorite in the series so far.
