Out from Boneville by Jeff Smith

Cousins Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone are run out of their home in Boneville due to Phoney's scheming ways. When they are separated, Fone Bone turns to his new friends, including Thorn, her grandmother, and a dragon, to help him reunite with his cousins, fight the evil rat creatures, and find a way home to Boneville. The first in a series of graphic novels, Out from Boneville leaves the reader eager to see what will happen next. The illustrations are simple and friendly, making this a good, accessible first graphic novel. The story has a strong plot and character development. Fans of adventure fantasy stories like Lord of the Rings might enjoy this book.

The republished 10th anniversary edition also includes special features: original covers, tribute art, maps, and more.
