((vols 1 through 3))

i started reading this manga series after i rewatched Monster when it was added on n*fl*x. i had this OBSESSION with the anime in middle and early high school and i always told people it was my favorite anime (bc cool kids cant just like naruto!!!!) rewatching it reminded me about how truly buckwild this story gets and i was excited to read it and experience it a new way.

i took a huge break after volume 1, primarily because the manga and anime are actually pretty consistent in their versions of the same scenes. very little is changed in the animated adaptation to the point i wish i had read it before rewatching it to make the reading more engaging. nonetheless, -1 star not because of that but because there is sooooo many background and slow parts in the first few parts of this series (and anticipating the level of buckwildness to elevate)
