Now Go: On Grief and Studio Ghibli by Karl Thomas Smith

3.0

Like many, Studio Ghibli is canon for me. I remember first seeing "Spirited Away" in theaters and thinking 'wow, I have never watched anything like this.' As I got older, the deeper meanings of each film shifted into focus, but I have never sat down and tied the story's central themes together. I loved so many of the ideas Smith presented about the studio's illustrations on grief, however, many of the essays needed another round of editing. I know 404Ink is an Indie publisher and isn't flush with the same resources as major publishers. Do not get me wrong, this wouldn't stop me from rereading "Now Go" again or recommending it to a friend. It definitely isn't stopping me from reading the rest of the inkling series!
