This is my first epic (aka chunky) fantasy.  You need patience with these books and it’s something I need to work on. But Shannon’s slow burn and character development coaches me through it. Swapping to read the story from the different main characters perspectives kept me engaged and I “flew” through the last 1/3 of this book. She’s created a stunning and diverse world that sweeps you up. 


I was waiting for another twist, that didn’t come. But it was a great read. Very excited to read more of her work.
