The Devil's Game by Sean Chercover

5.0

I have enjoyed Sean Chercover since meeting his Chicago PI, Ray Dudgeon, in BIG CITY BAD BLOOD. His was a book I added to the WWBL because of the title. I do sometimes choose a book by its cover.
I enjoy reading, I love listening and was mightily chuffed upon finding that I'd won this audiobook of THE DEVIL'S GAME from Sean a bit back. It immediately went into the CD player in Spike (my MINI) for my commute. It is second in a trilogy and I haven't yet read the first book, but it didn't hinder the thrill.
I am always amazed at how exhausting the thriller's main character/s life can be! Brains on overdrive, muscles pushed to the max to keep ahead or at least close by the manipulative bad guys.
Conspiracy, threa of pandemic, good guys are a bit grey around the edges, bad guys are pure evil.
I like Daniel Byrne, the main character. He has huge decisions to make, most of them of them on the run. He has flaws, he wants to fix and save the world.
Awesome, thrill-ride!
