Good Cop Bad Cop: Hero Or Criminal Mastermind? a Gripping New Thriller from the Sunday Times Bestseller by Simon Kernick

3.0

The plot was good, but the execution wasn't. Really hit or miss at points, the story held my interest due to the intrigue, however, it did plod at times. All the characters were very run-of-the-mill, with no standouts present throughout. The twists in this book were poor. Either too predictable or with no rational explanations behind them, they seemed to be shoehorned in just to add another low-value moment of shock.

The writing was fine, nothing to note here. The conclusion could have redeemed this book an extra star, but instead, it followed the theme of the rest of the book by trying too hard and it ended up becoming lacklustre.

Overall the book wasn’t bad. It had its moments and had me hooked once things got going. This was solely down to the story which petered out too often to be any higher than a three.
