A book that manages navigate well into the feeling of “being different” in a time that being different was unacceptable. Even though being different nowadays is better viewed, some parts of the books can still be relatable if you are the dark sheep of the family. Unfortunately, the book contains too much racism and sexism that makes my rating lower. I know that for the time the book was written and for the timeline of the actual story, such subjects are “common” but nonetheless not forgiven in my opinion!
But, yet, if I had to recommend a classic to someone (as a person that doesn’t enjoy reading classics just for the sake of reading classics) then I would probably recommend this one.
