I don't see it as a Christmas read because it's too heavy for that, so I read it in January. Excellent epistolary novel set in WW1 between a British lieutenant and and old family friend. Friends-to- lovers,  wonderfully told. Interspersed with some flash forwards to the hero's last Christmas in Paris at the end of his life. Or are the letters the flashbacks...? Huh.

Anyway, great book. 👍
