There are some beautiful ideas in this book, but the execution of the narrative felt a bit clunky. It definitely has some studio ghibli vibes, but some leaps in logic in the plot took me out of it. The action felt choppy and sudden, the dialogue was often overly dramatic, and the characters fell rather flat, but the world was rich and beautiful.
(Also I’m not fluent so I could be wrong but some of the Japanese didn’t look correct…or at least the romaji didn’t seem to match the kanji and kana…)
