The Throwback List by Lily Anderson

4.0

The Throwback List is a fun book that tells the story of three high school friends that are reunited ten years after graduation as one of them returns to their small hometown in coastal Oregon after getting fired from her job. While home, they try to complete a list they made in high school of things they wanted to do back then. The book alternates between the perspective of each of the three friends as they each have their own journey of discovering themselves and their future paths.
It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. Each of the characters are well developed and have their own issues that they are grappling with. I also really enjoyed the idea that they were all working on completing a list and growing from their high school selves into their adult selves. We see how they changed and how they can be more honest and comfortable with themselves.
I listened to the audiobook, and the one thing I didn’t like was the narrator…well I liked her and thought she did a good job with narrating most of the book, she didn’t do different voices for each of the characters so it was a little difficult to follow who was talking during the dialogue.
Mt other gripe about the book was the ending. I would have liked to see a more definitive ending for the characters. But otherwise, I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend.
