Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
3.0

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“Hello. I hope somebody is listening…” is how every YouTube episode of University City starts, Frances’ favourite thing.

The platonic (trust me, they DO NOT fall in love) relationship between Aled and Frances just pulled at my heartstrings because it was just so wholesome and not once did they even remotely think they had a thing for one another.

Each chapter “title” is something that is later said in the chapter and that’s just not something I’m really a big fan of. Besides that, it’s well written and an overall decent read.

The book is a lot more underwhelming than I thought it would be. There are some relatable themes in the book, I.E Frances having a hard time making friends and hiding her true self at school. Been there, done that.

Now don’t get me wrong, Oseman did an amazing job and describing teenagers, right down to fandoms and I love that. But this book just wasn’t up my alley. It was a slow paced book and nothing too too exciting happened through 70% of the book.

I really wanted to like this book, and I don’t hate it. I just, unfortunately, don’t love it. It wasn’t at all cliche which is great because there were some points that I thought I would know what was going to happen, but it didn’t take that direction at all. I appreciated that.

If you want a slow paced read with fairly relatable characters, then this is the book for you!
