Shit, Actually: The Definitive, 100% Objective Guide to Modern Cinema by Lindy West

I am one of the people that Lindy cites in the introduction to Shit, Actually who annually reads the Jezebel essay that shares the same title as this book. I have been waiting for this title since it was announced.
I listened to the audiobook (courtesy of libro.fm) and I found it immensely comforting - in the middle of a global pandemic, staring down what is likely going to be a contested, terrifying election - to feel a little like your very funny good friend is talking shit about some of the best and worst movies of the last couple decades. The format is one of my favorite genres. I love a snarky summary. It manages to both lampoon the dumber things all while also serving thoughtful cultural criticism. Also she rips apart my (not even kidding here) favorite Christmas movie, The Santa Clause. An absolute joy.
I HIGHLY recommend listening to this one as opposed to reading the physical copy.
