Offensive and misrepresentative of the autism spectrum. In a 2009 blog post, author Mark Haddon wrote, “i know very little about the subject. i did no research for curious incident,” and that he regrets the mention of Asperger’s in the blurb/on the cover. It is a travesty to the neurodivergent community that this novel is among the most widely recognized/renowned “examples” of autism in literature. As an #actuallyautistic adult, this was PAINFUL to read.
Graphic: Ableism
Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Cursing, Infidelity, and Animal death
Minor: Vomit and Child abuse
The .25 star was because Christopher gets his own dog at the very end.
