An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

4.0

The first of the bridgerton books I’ve read with no previous season! And goodness am I excited to see how this is adapted.
At the beginning I was deeply annoyed to realize this was a Cinderella retelling (mostly because I don’t tend to love Cinderella retellings). But after part 1 it acted more as a background plot piece until the resolution.
At the center was always Sophie and Benedict. And while I had TV show Benedict in my head this one worked well within who I’ve worked him out to be. With the exception of maybe this one was more manipulative. But we’ll see.
And Sophie. She nearly matches Kate for sassy-ness and dearly hope she keeps that and if anything becomes more powerful in her agency in the show.
