Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

4.0

I don't really like YA literature anymore, but I suspect my younger self would have really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing, light, and I loved the hints and mentions of ancient Mayan myths and the Popol Vuh. Even the romance element that I would usually cringed to, concluded beautifully and kind of unpredictably, which was a pleasant change from other stories in the genre. I didn't find the final chapter a bit flat but the overall feeling the book left me was very pleasant.
