Wranglestone by Darren Charlton

4.0

I wish I could give this book a 3.5 stars, but here we are.

I was really surprised when I heard about this book, and excited. A Queer Zombie book? Being one of the only viewers still invested in the Walking Dead, I said sign me up and take my money. Give me ALL the queer post apocalyptic romances!

And, for the most part this book really did pay off to be something pretty worthwhile. It just wasn't perfect for me.

There are some things about the story that just, didn't click for me. The pacing seemed off for the first chunk of the book. I felt like I was missing something early on, that maybe I had missed a chapter or two. It's a personal problem I have with some books that just throw the reader into a universe though. It will either hit the ground running, or not. Unfortunately, Wranglestone seemed to stumble a bit, up until Peter goes past the waterfall. Then the story really starts to flourish, albeit a little choppy still. I wish we could have gotten a little bit more in some scenes to just help maintain the flow of the story. The main character does get a little whiny, at times but there is definitely some good character development throughout the cast's journey.
