This book was incredibly, stupidly bad. Don't get me wrong, I love a cop drama. Those first two seasons of NCIS are a comfort watch for me, but everything about this book was annoying to an almost unbearable degree. John Puller was the worst part!!!! Baldacci seems unwilling or unable to apply any nuance to the writing of a war vet who fought in the Middle East, so Mr. Puller is the most wooden, unrealistic Gary Stu that has ever not had feelings (except when a woman softens his heart,) and effectively does no changing or growing across a few hundred pages.
One thing did make me laugh, Puller says at a certain point that coffee helps him sleep, I jumped up and exclaimed "THAT'S ADHD!!!!!"
