Being Better: Stoicism for a World Worth Living in by Kai Whiting, Leonidas Konstantakos

informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

5.0

A great book on Stoicism and how it can help us live a better life, not just as individuals but members of a community and society. The book focuses largely around virtue and living according to nature, major parts of Stoicism that are not often given the importance they deserve in contemporary works, which often focus more on the self-help and life hacks.

Each chapter focuses on a concept with examples from ancient Stoics as well modern world example showcasing their virtuous actions.

Each chapter also ends with questions to reflect on inspired by a different ancient Stoic. These questions could serve as a handy guide in reflecting on our experiences in relation to virtue.

The book is a refreshing look at the experience and journey of attempting to live a better life, following a life of virtue, and making progress towards a better world.
