Burden of Truth by Robin James

4.0

Cass Leary returns home after things turn bad in her high paid lawyer job in the city, and suddenly finds herself defending a girl who is accused of killing the adored basketball and athletics coach. I’m not sure what to say about this one. The story was developed well enough and the writing kept me there from beginning to end, but the story never really convinced and the courtroom parts lacked real drama. I feel three stars might have been more honest, but the four stars reflect the fact that it entertained and showed promise. I am open to reading another novel by this author in the future.
