A pretty good book that resonated with me in a lot of ways. I read the entire thing in a day, neglecting all the work I'd planned to do that day, and cried throughout the last 1/4 of the book. As an Asian-American (Taiwanese, even!) I really related to Vi's feelings about being Asian, both about how she was perceived by others and the feelings she had about her family vs other families. It helps that I am also in my early 20s and constantly feel as though I am experiencing growing pains. The only complaint I have about this book is that it feels like it could be more fleshed out. The characters feel slightly too flat, like they're one descriptor away from becoming believable humans. But otherwise, the themes of the book all hit and there were definitely passages that were super well written. Very much enjoyed!
