Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

4.0

I’m Joe’s disappointed missing shoe.
Reading Fight Club is like listening to the story of your drug addict friend, on a high as he tells you his incredible philosophy of life.
The story does have some good themes and is humorous, but the problem is it is written as blabbering – which is funny and stupid at times, and simply stupid at others.
You could see the reasons the author chose the tone – one, it is from point of view of a person with psychological illness; and two, story is about need for chaos and it makes sense to tell it in chaotic manner but after sometime, it become bad writing. I mean if only the author has chosen to settle down and write like a mature writer after first few chapters, I would had give a thought of another star.
It could had been better, had it stayed limited to Fight Clubs, but no there are those ‘Project Mayhem’ – the author is himself confused as to how to end it. Also midway the story losses incredibility - I mean the whole city goes mad ? At least a few of them need to have sense ……
But I believe sense is not high point here
