"By the stars we hope"

Godfuckingdamnit! This is the second book by Becky Chambers that makes me cry. And I hope she writes a million more books about space so I could read all of them and cry after each one 🤍

This book offers a lot of thinking material. It is a collection of stories of the descendants of people who left earth and now live in space. All of them have a lot of thoughs and feelings about the place they live. There are also a lot of traditions and soscietal norms described along the way. And it's so great to learn about all of that!

And then in the middle it gets so sad so sudden that I was so shocked I read all the rest of the book in one go. It just gripped me and wouldn't let go. And that's also great.

I loved the repeating scene of a naming ceremony in the beginning of the book and at its very end. How differently they sound!
