Ghosts by Dolly Alderton

3.0

the first half of this book was kinda boring and meh for me but the second half was fun and i enjoyed it. i was frustrated with nina a lot of times like how she acts and decides for herself but i guess thats what being an adult all about.

one of the things that i found so interesting about this book is the discussion on how men easy it is for men to be in a women’s life and take care of her and love her but when things started to get serious they vanished. then they can date again, preferably with someone younger and sort of repeat that cycle. they don’t care about the many women that they have hurt and yes it’s very selfish but does these men care? probably not. certainly i don’t know but it’s kinda interesting how this mirrors pur real world right?

it’s rare for me to write this long review but this book sparks my interest despite me not liking it that much. here’s an excerpt from the book that i can’t seem to forget:

Then I realized - he would be able to decide when he wanted to fall in love and have a family and it would happen. There would always be a woman who wanted to love him. He didn’t have to take this chance at all - he could wait for another chance. Then another one. The female population was just an endless source of chances and he could wait as long as he wanted.

tragic? yes but very real.
