Truly an amazing book. The writer is so clever at creating a book with magical realism that it felt like I'm watching a Ghibli film.

It was worth noting that all the protagonists in this book are children. The idea of children dealing with adult problems such as death, poverty, bullying, abuse, and mental illness gave me a new perspective in life. We rarely talk about this but children too can be very brave.

The whole story interwoven beautifully until the end that I find myself wishing that somehow, somewhere there is a castle waiting to glow for every children out there who find themselves hard to fit in. Especially a woman like Mrs Kitajima around them.

I gave this book 5/5 stars and hope to reread it in the future.
