I was recommended this book by someone, but it really REALLY is not for me. I hate DNFing books, and that is the only reason I did not stop this one sooner. The dedication at the beginning from Anne Rice made me think I could learn something about other people’s types of fantasies or expand my own, but, and I guess this is yucking many peoples yum, it was a book literally just about extremely non consensual rape and torture and people crying for anyone to have any empathy and being trapped in their slavery because of genuine cruelty and manipulation by their captors. Looking back, Anne Rice’s dedication was an accurate layout of what was to come, but made it seem like it would still be consensual sex throughout the book at the very least. If you are in to really dark romance, this is a good book for you, it just really wasn’t for me. (Extreme humiliation, pain, rape, torture, emotional manipulation, misogyny, and slave-master type relationships… beyond general dominant and submissive behavior.)
