Yukon Ho! by Bill Watterson

5.0

DEFINITELY my favorite Calvin and Hobbes collection so far.

The title storyline "Yukon Ho!" was wonderful and cute. We see how reality and fantasy intermingle in Calvin's mind in a way that past strips didn't explore.

And there was a Christmas storyline closer to the end that was amazing. Calvin asks questions about Santa and then the story subverts it in such a way that we realize Santa is a metaphor for God and the Christmas presents represent heavenly reward. I loved it and I love how Pascal's wager is hidden there in the last strip of that storyline, but replaces belief in God with belief in Santa instead.

This is brilliant stuff. And you know, some of the other strips in this collection was just straight up laugh-out-loud funny.

Final Rating : 5 stars and then some.
