I wasn't as invested in this book as I could have been, and that was my fault. I didn't read any of the Demonica Underworld novellas because, well, I'm just not into novellas. So I wasn't up on the back story and the characters. But I was able to get the gist of what was going on, and I've read all of the Demonica books so I was familiar with those characters.
This was not an easy or pleasant book to read. Too many awful things happened. The biggest, for Demonica fans, I won't spoil here. Fortunately, I was sure that would turn out all right in the end. I think that situation was why Larissa asked us to trust her in the foreword.
It also wasn't much of a romance. Azagoth and Lilliana spent too much time apart.
I have mixed feelings about the way the book ended. Lilliana felt that it was a happy ending, but there were a lot of negatives that I was sorry to see.
A new series is set up at the end, sort of Demonica/The Horsemen the Next Generation.
